The arts are essential to human development and the well being of society. The Community Arts Center is dedicated to providing a nurturing environment for artists at all levels of their creative journey, encouraging participation in the arts through advocacy, education and outreach, and serving as a vital creative resource for the community.
The Community Arts Center was founded in 1948 by a group of local artists. Throughout its long and successful history the Arts Center has continually pursued excellence in all areas of its programming, expanding course offering and other programs to meet the needs of its community.
Currently the Community Arts Center offers four semesters of classes for students of all ages. Areas of instruction include drawing and painting, pottery, sculpture, jewelry and metals, photography, movement and sculpture. The Center's Summer Spree Visual Arts Camp for children ages 4 to 15 offers students the opportunity to try a wide variety of arts in a creative and supportive atmosphere.
Integral to the Center's program are a variety of activities including bus trips and an annual trip abroad, live musical concerts, art exhibits and special events. All of these activities are planned to foster the understanding and appreciation of the arts in the local community and beyond.
